Ujjain: The administration observed two minutes silence to mark martyrs’ day at Brihspati Bhawan at 11 am on Wednesday.
Divisional commissioner Ajeet Kumar, additional commissioner PL Katroliya, collector Shashank Mishra, ADM GS Dabar, deputy commissioner Pawan Jain and joint commissioner Prateek Sonwalkar were among others present at the function.
VC, scholars pay rich tributes
On the occasion of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and martyrs’ day, vice chancellor and chairperson of the programme Shilsindhu Pandey and other scholars offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and observed silence in respect of father of the nation. In his address Pandey said that principles of Gandhi showed a new path of human welfare to the world and the nation.
Proctor professor Shailendrakumar Sharma told that the gist of the Indian culture is shown in philosophy of Gandhi.
Registrar Dr DK Bagga was the chief guest of the programme Proctor Sharma informed. The guests were welcomed by Dr Ramkumar Sharma and proctor Shailendrakumar Sharma. Many prominent scholars were also present in the programme.
Bhartiya Gyanpeetyh pays tributes to martyrs
Bhartiya Gyanpeeth and its staffers also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and martyrs on the occasion of martyrs’ day. In all religion’s meeting, Dr Nalini Rewarikar told that principles of Ganadhi will always show the path to humanity for years to come. The programme was presided over by principal Dr Mahesh Sharma and conducted by Karuna Garge while the gratitude was expressed by Amrita Kulshreshtha.
Cong Committee pays floral tributes
On the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, members of District Congress Committee gathered at Kshirsagar located Balodhyan and offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and observed two minutes silence. Party members remembered the principles of Gandhi and paid tributes to him.
District spokesperson Vivek Gupta informed that former MP Satyanarayan Panwar, Anantnarayan Meena, district vice president Kailash Bisen, Ravirai Jitendra Goyal, Devvrat Yadav, Deepak Mehara and other senior Congress leaders were present on this occasion.

Woman wing of Congress distributed fruits to the inmates of Mother Theresa Ashram in the leadership of district Mahil Congress head Anju Jatwa. Members of Lions club Ujjaini paid tributes to martyrs on the occasion of martyrs’ day on Wednesday. Zila police Nagar Gram Raksha Samiti members also remembered Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters on the occasion.
