Ujjain: carried out a raid against illegal sand mining on the banks of Gambhir river at village Badwai under Ghattiya tehsil following the orders of district collector Shashank Mishra. According to information, mineral inspector along with sleuths of revenue and police department jointly raided the illegal mining going on at village Badwai on Tuesday.
During the action, five boats, mining equipment and huge quantity of sand were seized from the spot. The team also seized three JCBs, two tractors and a two-wheeler and the mining department registered a case of illegal mining. District administration swung into action after the visit of mining minister Pradeep Jaiswal on Monday who assured strict action against sand mafia. The collector also warned of similar actions in future to curb illegal sand mining in Kshipra river.
