Ujjain: The condition of life line of city, Kshipra River, remains a serious concern for city dwellers. Sant Avadheshpuri Maharaj wrote a letter to chief minister Kamal Nath highlighting the deteriorating condition of the holy river. The letter also highlighted haphazard constructions on the banks of Kshipra and discharge of waste water into the river.
He blamed the nexus between administration and land mafia for the poor state of Kshipra river. The collusive attitude of administration leads to development of several colonies on the bank of river from Triveni to Mangal Nath, the letter said. Maharaj also raised the issue of mixing of waste water from these colonies with river water which is detrimental not only from environmental point of view but also harm to the underwater species.
Avadheshpuri Maharaj urged Kamal Nath to set up investigation committee to check the legality of these colonies and also to take steps for the protection and preservation of scared Kshipra River.
