Government railway police claimed to have arrested a habitual thief who stole valuable goods of many onboard train passengers. SP GRP Rakesh Khakha informed that the thief Harendra Singh son of Harminder Sing resident of district Bijnour (UP) is from an elite family and was also former corporator of his area.
According to the SP, Harmendra Singh often targeted passengers of the trains bound to South India, as most of the passengers of theses trains have jewelleries in their luggage. He confessed to a theft of a businessman worth Rs 1.60 lakh. The police told that the accused was already serving his sentence in Nagpur jail for committing theft in separate incidents in Maharasthra, and the GRP took him to Ujjain on protection warrant for interrogation. The police have also recovered stolen pistol from him.
