Ujjain: Some newly-wed couples also reached at the polling stations to cast their votes. Divyangs were seen quite enthusiastic to vote. Likewise, a number of non-resident Indians are also arrived in the city to exercise their franchise.
In the first phase of voting till 9 am, 12.43 percent voters exercised their franchise in the constituency. This per cent reached 31.05 %, 49.05% and 60.03 % at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm, respectively.
Till 5 pm, the total percentage of voting recorded was 70.50 percent. The polling was comparatively high in rural areas as compared to the urban areas. In urban areas, long queues of voters were witnessed in areas having high density of members of Muslim community and where SC-backward voters are more in numbers since morning
