Ujjain: District administration gears up for Somwati Amavasya, Eid

Ujjain: District administration geared up for preparation of snan-parv Somwati Amavasya and Eid which will fall in the first week of June. Meeting of peace committee convened on Thursday afternoon at Police Control Room took on record different preparations. Collector and SP then visited various localities for smooth arrangements. Somwati Amavasya will be celebrated on June 3. On this occasion scores of devotees will take dip in river Kshipra and Somkund (water-body) located at Ranjeet Hanuman Road.

The administration made arrangements for maintaining cleanliness at the kund area and all the ghats of river Khipra. At present the dry-kund was being filled with water. The administration also made arrangements of showers for the devotees to take their bath. The administration arranged water of Narmada to fill the dry river Kshipra. The administration has already made arrangements for changing rooms, potable water, proper lighting, medical facilities, professional divers at all the ghats of the river Kshipra for the facilities of devotees.

Police will also be deployed at all the ghats for the purpose of security of the devotees. Administration also made arrangements for Eid which will be celebrated on June 5. Collector Shashak Mishra instructed 14 executive magistrates to maintain law and order in the city on the day of Eid. Deputy collector Pushpendra Ahke, SDM Munish Singh Sikarwar, Prabhulal Verma, Punam Singh Shekhawat, Sapana Sharma, Aniruddha Mishra, Kuldeep Singh, tehsildar Sunil Patil, Mulchand Junwal, Alok Chaurey, Shrikant Sharma, Adarsh Sharma, Shivram Kanashe, Pragya Geete and CSPs and TIs will be on duty to maintain law and order across the city. According to officials the police force will also be deployed in the sensitive areas of the city. Meanwhile, members of peace committee during its meeting gave suggestions to the administration so as to ensure calm and tranquility during the festival.

They wanted proper cleanliness, light, hassle-free traffic arrangements. After the meeting, collector Shashank Mishra and SP Sachin Atulkar visited Begam Bagh, Topkhana, Mahakaleshwar Temple, Chhatri Chowk, Daulatganj, Dewasgate, Chamunda Mata Chouraha and reviewed the arrangements. They directed to disallow the movements of four-wheelers in KD Gate, Chhatri Chowk, Topkhana and Begam Bagh areas from 6 pm on wards and till late night.
