Ujjain: Congress workers more bothered about RaGa than about party’s debacle

Ujjain: A review meeting convened by the City Congress Committee at Ksheer Sagar located Rajiv Bhavan on Thursday afternoon to assess the reasons as to why the party faced huge defeat in Ujjain- Alot parliamentary constituency passed a resolution that Rahul Gandhi should continue on the post of Congress president. This meeting assumed significance in light of the party’s debacle in the recent polls as the local leaders had claimed that they will go in depth to know why the party underwent such a treatment.

The meeting was convened in wake of Pradesh Congress Committee instructions to send a report with regard to defeat and victory of the party candidate from those booths where senior party functionaries and corporators reside. But, as soon as the proceedings started local unit president Mahesh Soni moved a proposal for the continuation of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in office. This proposal was read-out by senior leader Manohar Bairagi and was then seconded by most of the leaders present and finally adopted by them.

Party spokesman Vivek Gupta stated the meeting decided to carry people welfare oriented schemes of the State government at the doorsteps. It was also decided in the meeting that those government employees who are lethargic in their day-today functioning and use to delay the peoples’ works will be shunted out. Prominent among those present included defeated candidate Babulal Malviya, Dr Batuk Shankar Joshi, Satya Narayan Pawar, Anant Narayan Meena, Azad Yadav, Sultan Shah Lala, Chetan Yadav, Kamal Patel, Jitendra Goyal, Pritesh Sharma, Amber Mathur, Anju Jatwa and Vandana Mimrot.
