Ujjain: Famous Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan will be conferred with ‘Nrityaaradhana Kala Sadhak Samman-2019’ during a function to be organised by the Nrityaaradhana Music and Arts College here on April 28. College principal Khushbu Panchal on Thursday evening told a press conference that Saroj Khan will be visiting Ujjain for the first time. During the function, scheduled to begin at 6.30 pm at Kalidas Sanskrit Academy Sankul, a special Kathak dance presentation on her biography will also be held. The 72-year-old and Mumbai-based choreographer started her career at the time when black and white films used to be produced in the country. She has recently choreographed in the film Kalank and presently is busy in choreographing for the film Dabang-3.
According to Khusbhu Panchal, she herself started performing Kathak dance at the age of only two-and-a-half years under the guidance of Dr Poonam Vyas of Ujjain and treats Saroj Khan as her idol. According to her, the function is being organised every year to bring the youngsters into the world of Kathak dance. About 125 girls have been learning this traditional form of Indian dance in her institution, which was established some five years ago. The function will also showcase Mahakal ardhana with Kathak dance with 80 damru (drums), she added.
