Ujjain: A drug smuggler who was arrested with 2.46 kg cannabis by Maksi police on July 3, 2015 from village Barandava has been awarded two years’ rigorous imprisonment by special judge Rajendra Dewda on Thursday. After the completion of hearing in the case, special judge Dewda found him guilty and awarded the punishment under Section 8/20 and 2(A) of NDPS Act to Prahlad (42), son of Kacharulal, a resident of village Golba under Maksi police station limits.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the smuggler. According to deputy director prosecution Dr Saket Vyas, Prahlad was nabbed by Maksi police on July 3, 2015 from village Barandava after being tipped-off. The police had also recovered over 2.46 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs 7500 from the accused.
