Ujjain: Bharatiya Janata Party raised voice against recent decision of state government to annul the pensions of freedom fighters which till now was given as emergency repatriations. BJP leader Babulal Jain held that people fought against Indira Gandhi government’s forced emergency in 1975 for the protection of freedom of citizens as well as press and media.
The then chief minister of Madhya Pradesh had begun the pensions for these freedom fighters in 2008 as repatriation for their sacrifice during emergency. Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a decision to provide compensatory pensions for freedom fighters who had gone to jail under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and present government’s decision of revoking it is very much undemocratic.
He further held that by revoking pensions incumbent Chief Minister Kamal Nath has cleared his stand of supporting the tyrannical emergency of 1975. Virendra Kawadiya warned the government to cancel their decision otherwise BJP will fight for the cause of freedom fighters on roads.
He informed that till January 10 memorandum addressing President and Governor will be given at every divisional office of party followed by mass protest in Bhopal. Freedom fighters Jagdish Agrawal, Umrao Singh Chouhan, Ram Bhawalkar, Narayan Kachwai, Narendra Sankhla, Kailash Kushwah along with district president Vivek Joshi, Dinesh Jatwa, Anil Shinde and Pankaj Chouhan were present.
