Ujjain: Prominent ascetics will agitate for holy city status for Ujjain and will observe serial fast with other devotees. Urja guru Arihat Rishi,Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) mentor Jitendranand Saraswati and other ascetics demanded ban on liquor and mutton shops within the city. The saints earlier decided to observe ‘fast unto death’ but now they changed it to observing serial fasting due to election period.
Saint Jitendranand Saraswati said that ascetic community demanded holy city tag for Ujjain to maintain its religious splendour. The saints decided to go on serial fast in a meeting in which Kushagranandji Maharaj, Digvivjaydas Maharaj, Vishadas, Vedantdas and other saints were present. The saint said that a signature campaign will also be launched in which the supporters of the demand will sign a memorandum which will be sent to the president, prime minister, governor and the chief minister of the state.
