Ujjain: At least nine schoolchildren fell ill after administration of anti-Rubella measles vaccine under Tarana sub-division on Thursday. According to reports, a vaccination camp was organised at Government Primary School Sumrakheda under the ongoing statewide Measles-Rubella vaccination drive.
Hundreds of children below 15 years of age were administered the vaccine and nine of them later fainted. They were immediately taken to Tarana hospital and as one of them complained of headache, he was rushed to the Civil Hospital in the evening.
On being contacted, district vaccination officer Dr KC Parmar told Free Press that there was nothing like panic and symptoms shown by some kids in Sumrakheda are usual one. According to him, children hospitalised were normal, but were being kept under observation for some hours. He also informed that the target in the district is 5.88 lakh children and out of which 2.75 lakh have already been administered the vaccine and the target will be achieved in February.
