Ujjain: 70th Republic Day, Tricolours envelop city

Ujjain: 70th Republic Day was celebrated across the city amidst of joy, happiness and patriotic zeal on Saturday. Cutting across the caste, age, sex, gender almost the denizens celebrated the occasion with equal happiness and pride. The main celebration programme was convened by district administration at Dashara maidan in which chief guest Collector Shashank Mishra unfurled the national flag took salute of parade. Shashank Mishra read the message of Chief Minister Kamal Nath on the occasion. NCC and platoons march past on the occasion. Cultural programmes including yoga, mallakhamba, dance portraying war scene, tableau spreading message of swachhta among others enhanced the beauty of the programme. Collector felicitated city dwellers from various walks of life for their contributions for the betterment of society. Special guest zila panchayat president Karan Kumariya, divisional commissioner Ajit Kumar, IG Rakesh Gupta, SP Sachin Atulkar and other officers marked the celebration event.

In similar programme convened at Ujjain development authority office, divisional commissioner Ajit Kumar unfurled the national flag to mark the occasion. CEO Abhishek Dubey, executive engineer SS Gupta, resources officer Jaideep Sharma among the other members marked their presence in the programme. Girls Degree College marked the occasion by hoisting tricolour followed by national anthem. Principal Ulka Yadav unfurled the flag and NCC cadet Mahima Gupta shared her memories of visit of Longewala border with the members. Sevadham Ashram celebrated the Republic Day with the hundred of physically and mental challenged children. Sudir Goal and Kanta Goyal along with old members hoisted the national flag and marked their respect for the tricolour on the occasion.

Bharatiya Gyanpeeth School organised Republic Day celebration programme during which chief guest Rakesh Bhatnagar, ADG Doordarshan and school’s director Krishna Mangal Singh Kulshrestha hoisted the tricolour. Amrita Kulshrestha, Dr Girish Pandya, Meena Nagar were present on the occasion. DPS School celebrated 70th Republic Day with fervour. Chief Guest SP Rashmi Pandey hoisted the tricolour which was followed by national anthem. Cultural programmes were also organised on the occasion. School principal Rekha Pillai and other members participated in the programme. Moreover Dr AJ Abdul Kalam Yuva Manch organised vehicle rally to mark the Republic Day. Rally began from gudri square and moved from important places of city. City Congress organised Republic Day celebrations at Gopal Mandir and party office, Ksheersagar in the presence of hundreds of party members. City president Mahesh Soni, rural president Kamal Patel, Vivek Gupta participated in the event.
