Ujjain: An average of 20-25 persons including youths among 100 persons in Ujjain division suffer from high blood pressure, but, ironically, 50% or half of them don’t know that they are suffering from the disease.
Releasing a survey report on the eve of World High Blood Pressure Day, city’s renowned cardiologist and RD Gardi Medical College professor Vijay Garg said hyper tension, consumption of junk food, obesity, excessive working, consumption of cigarette, tobacco, etc, are the main reasons behind the prevalence of disease. Not only urbanites, but 15-20% ruralites also suffer from the high blood pressure.
Sharing measures to manage the disease, Dr Garg advised that the sufferer should take-up brisk walking everyday and drink a lot of water and should avoid taking help of lift. He should take salt in less quantity and should avoid eating papad, achaar. Instead, he should eat fruits and green vegetables regularly. One should compulsorily take food rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium. One should also reduce consumption of tea and coffee,
