Ujjain: Two men were awarded 20 years in jail for gangrape under SC/ST Act on Friday. A penalty of Rs 5,000 was also imposed on him. Judge Vijaykumar Pandey held Sameer Ansari (42) of Bagumbag and Gajraj alias Gajju (28) of Jaisingpura guilty of outraging modesty of an SC/ST woman.
Joint director (AJAK) RK Chandel said ‘The woman was travelling in a public transport vehicle. When all other passengers alighted from the vehicle, the duo drove her to a secluded place and raped her. As the woman became unconscious, the duo dropped her at Gadapuliya. The passersby called an ambulance and rushed her to a hospital. Neelganga police registered an FIR on the basis of victim’s statement and arrested the duo.
