Ujjain: In view of limited storage of water at city’s lifeline Gambhir dam the civic body decided to continue water supply by its Public health engineering department across the city on alternate day from Wednesday. The decision will be reviewed according to availability of the water in the dam.
At present the dam has 212 McFt water and 300 McFt water can be borrowed from Yeshwantsagar dam in Indore. The sources told that scarcity of water is due to vaporisation and water pilferage by the farmland owners adjacent to the dam. The commissioner appealed the city dwellers to co-operate with the civic body and avoid wastage of water.
