While the poll campaigning for the fourth phase ended on Saturday, a leader of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) on Monday, polling day, was seen campaigning for his party’s candidate.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Anandraj Ambedkar, a leader of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), on Monday went to the slums of Ramabai Colony and Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar East to campaign for his party’s candidate, Niharika Khondalay, which is a clear violation of the model code of conduct. Around 2.15 pm, Ambedkar arrived while voting was in progress and told people to vote for “cup and saucer” – the party symbol. While NCP’s Mumbai leader, Rakhi Jadhav, had stayed put near the main entrance of Ramabai Colony, but Ambedkar and his supporters campaigned a short distance away.
The Ramabai Colony and Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar East has a large number of population of Dalits when Anandraj Ambedkar arrived their a resident told a big crowd of people that “Babasaheb’s grandson is here. Come and see him,” reported Mumbai Mirror. After the crowd gathered the police arrived and told the crowd to stop raising slogans and asked Ambedkar to leave the constituency. But people have alleged that Anandraj Ambedkar was not booked for violating the model code of conduct.
