Mumbai: This year’s parliamentary elections are more special to the members of the Lesbain Gay Bisexual and Transgenders (LGBT) community, especially after the landmark ruling of the Supreme Court striking down the controversial section 377. Accordingly, the city recorded a remarkable percentage of voters from the LGBT community.

“Despite the SC ruling, we see the present government has done nothing for our community. The PM is never seen speaking for our community. Thus, most of us have kept all this in mind and have voted. We have also voted for a better social and economic development of our country,” said Charles Williams, a member of the LGBT community.

“None of the governments till date have done anything for our community. Thus, we want someone from our community to be elected and to raise our voice in parliament,” said Jahnvi Patkar, a transgender.
