Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) has accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of stalling the rallies of their chief, Raj Thackeray. Fadnavis has assembled a group of legal luminaries to find a way to stop Raj from holding his rallies, the MNS has alleged. They also claim the government is also trying to deprive him of his voting rights.
In the last few weeks, the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party alliance has garnered popular support mainly due to Raj’s blistering oratory, which has appealed to the public across all age groups. Thus far, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seemed to be cruising comfortably on its poll drive until rabble-rouser Raj appeared on the scene and began derailing it.
Raj has been targeting the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo and every rally of his has drawn crowds. Not just that, his rallies have gained considerable traction on social media. There have been several attempts to try and stall Raj’s rousing rallies. The BJP has already tried knocking the doors of the Election Commission, by trying to inquire into the source of his funding and put the brakes on his rallies.

In his latest salvo against Modi, Raj, at a rally in Pune on Friday questioned Modi for his silence when people were being lynched for cow slaughter. “When beef exporters are your friends, why did you keep silent when mobs lynched the innocent, over cow slaughter rumours?” questioned Raj.
Raj questioned Modi’s claims of being an OBC. “When Modi claimed the Congress humiliated him because he was an OBC, why did he not speak up when Dalits were killed in the last five years?” alleged Raj. Yet again, Raj played a video wherein Modi claimed he has Jain friends who are in the business of beef exports, at a time when mobs had gone on a lynching spree.
The MNS has claimed Fadnavis is being pressured by the centre to somehow prevent Raj from making his speeches. Of late, Raj has been exposing the false claims made by Modi and Shah. MNS leader Abhijit Panse made the sensational allegation that Fadnavis was trying to snatch Raj’s voting rights. “Raj has done ‘poll khol’ of Modi and that has got the BJP and the government rattled, and they want to rein him in,” said Panse.
