Satara: Fourteen constituencies in Maharashtra went to polls on Tuesday. Even though authorities and celebrities have been exhorting the public to vote, a Satara woman, Prachi Ghadge, who is nine months and nine days pregnant, has set an example.

On Tuesday, she decided to perform her democratic duty by voting before going into labour. Ghadge, who lost her husband two months ago, first went to the clinic for her check-up and then headed straight to the polling booth. “Everyone needs to exercise their right to vote.

It is an important duty every citizen in a democracy must perform. That is why I went to vote immediately after visiting the doctor,” said Ghadge. After casting her vote, as a responsible mother-to-be, she headed straight to the hospital
