Mumbai: In the absence of their names in the voters list, two candidates, including union minister for heavy industries Anant Geete of the Shiv Sena and Parth Ajit Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), could not cast their votes. Geete is representing the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency for the second time and contesting the 2019 LS polls for the third time.
However, his name is enrolled in the voters list in Mumbai North West constituency. He cast his vote at the polling booth set up at M A high school in Mumbai on Monday. His constituency was also going to polls on Monday. Geete’s rival and NCP candidate Sunil Tatkare had raised the issue during his poll rally that Geete is such a candidate who had never cast his vote, neither in Raigad nor in Mumbai.
“It’s because of my criticism that Geete was forced to cast his vote in 2019 polls,” commented Tatkare. On the other hand, except Sharad Pawar, all other members of Pawar family, cast their votes at a Kathewadi village booth in Baramati tehsil. Parth is contesting from the Maval LS seat, but as his name was not in the voters list in Maval constituency, he could not vote himself.
