Baramati: After casting his vote at Katewadi polling centre, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that his party would win the Baramati seat. The NCP candidate in the Baramati constituency is Supriya Sule, the daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. He said, “Supriya will win comfortably with a big majority. NCP will retain Baramati seat,” said Pawar.

In the third pahse of Lok Sabha elections, 14 constituencies in Maharashtra went to polls on Tuesday. Sule is pitted against Kanchan Kul of the saffron alliance. Pawar said the party has left nothing to chances this time around, and they have carried out door-to-door campaigning. “We have reached out to each and every voter and that is why we are confident that Sule will win comfortably,” said Pawar.

He added that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena delayed in announcing their candidate. “It is not easy to win the Baramati seat. To boost their confidence, they have been shouting slogans against us. Moreover, there has been no campaigning by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the constituency, which speaks volumes of the situation, said Pawar.

Pawar shared his thoughts with the media after casting his vote and said he would like to become the chief minister. “Our Maha Aghadi needs to cross the magic figure for me to become a CM. My wishes are not enough. We need the support of the public. I will try to work towards it,” said Pawar.

Pawar had a word of advice for Vijaysinh Mohite Patil and said he should not have left the NCP because he was one of the founder members of the party. “Sharad Pawar had showered him with love and gavr him power. He even asked Mohite Patil to contest from Madha, but he refused. It is sad when anyone leaves the party, but these things keep happening,” said Pawar.
