As Lok Sabha Elections Phase four will take place in Mumbai and Maharashtra in the next three days, here is the list of candidates with highest assets and those with criminal cases against their names. Vote wisely as you discover more about the candidates around you.

A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms analysed affidavits of 928 of the 943 candidates in the fray across the country, of which 320 are from Maharashtra. This is the fourth and last phase of polls in the State, where 17 constituencies will go to polls, including six from Mumbai. According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms, affidavits were analysed of 928 candidates out of 943 as the rest did not submit their copies. What’s shocking is the fact that 320 of them are from Maharashtra itself.

Narrowing it down to Maharashtra and Mumbai, it was discovered that 64 candidates have criminal cases against their name on serious levels. A total of 17 seats, including the ones in Mumbai, go on polls on 29th April. The affidavits also conclude that 109 candidates are crorepatis with assets worth rupees one crore and more. Majority of these candidates are from NCP, Congress, Shiv Sena, BJP, NDA and the BSP.

An individual candidate with the lowest asset is Baban Thoke, who is standing from Mumbai North East. His assets are worth Rs 1100 only. Speaking of the richer candidates, Priya Dutt’s asset is Rs 96 crore followed by Shrirang Barne with Rs 102 crore assets. The richest candidate is Sanjay Bhosale of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), who is contesting from Mumbai South Central, and has assets worth Rs 125 crore. Despite the list, Priya Dutt has been declared as the candidate with the highest income generating one in Maharashtra and Mumbai as per I-T returns.
