Lok Sabha elections 2019: 9,000 illegal banner cases recorded by BMC since March

The political parties in Mumbai are leaving no stone unturned to grab the attention of voters as the campaigning has reached its last leg, the number of cases against illegal banners, wall painting, and others have reached over 9,000.

According to DNA, since the model code of conduct came into force, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started removing posters, banners and other display materials from public and private places. But, the total number of cases until April was 9,136. Since March 11, the total number of cases of illegal banners and posters including wall painting reported in public places are 8,767 while in private places it is 369.

A senior official from the License department of BMC told the DNA that till April 22 the BMC has removed 7493 defacements from public places and 360 from private places. The maximum number of banners were found in Borivali and Malad with numbers going up to 250 and 244 respectively. While on the other hand the maximum number of the illegal poster was found in F South ward with numbers of posters going up to 287. The BMC has also registered 50 FIRs for defacing public and private places. While there were no cases of violations were gound in Sandhurst road, Mohammed Ali road and Carnac Bunder in South Mumbai and also no cases reported in private places in South Mumbai under the A, B, C, and D ward.
