Nashik: In the Nashik Lok Sabha constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manikrao Kokate has filed his nomination papers, adding to the troubles of Hemant Godse, the sitting member of Parliament (MP) from the Shiv Sena. Kokate filed his papers in the belief that there would be no alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sena, adding to the woes of the ally.

Kokate had first tried to get a ticket, went ahead and filed his nomination papers, but his rebellion has been pointless. However, he claims, he still belongs to the BJP.  “I will wait for the party to give me the AB form. If they don’t do so, I will contest as an Independent,” he has announced. This will add to the troubles of Godse.

The BJP has not been able to persuade Kokate to change his mind. “I have filed my nomination at an auspicious time, as an Independent and I have also filed as a member of the BJP. I am still with the BJP and so far, they have taken no action against me,” said Kokate. He has given the party until April 9 to decide on his candidature.
