While Congress in struggling with the Modi-wave, the grand old party is using every trick to win the upcoming elections. In a bid to win a maximum number of seats in Mumbai, the Congress will be fielding big names, one such name is comedian Krushna Abhishek, nephew of Bollywood star Govinda.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the comedian-turned actor Krushna Abhishek will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket. In 2004, Govinda had also contested elections from the same constituency on a Congress ticket. A senior party functionary told the leading daily, “Krushna met Nirupam and it looks like he is interested (in Mumbai North). He is Govinda’s nephew and a popular face. Given his background, he will be a good candidate for us, especially since there is no strong candidate in the party for this particular seat.”

As Congress is struggling to find an in-house candidate for Mumbai North, Krushna met Sanjay Nirupam, “We had a meeting. I am still in talks with the Congress for contesting from North Mumbai, which my uncle Govinda once represented,” he told the leading daily. Earlier in 2004, Govinda had won the seat on Congress ticket, but in 2009 he was not re-nominated and the seat went to Nirupam. In 2014, Nirupam lost elections from Mumbai North constituency.
