Mumbai: Former Union minister of state Pratik Patil, the grandson of former CM Vasantdada Patil, quitted the Congress on Sunday. In his statement, he said neither the Congress needed his family nor he needed the Grand Old Party. Patil was disappointed with the state Congress leadership, who delayed in taking a call to announce the name of party candidate.
Later, the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance leave the seat to its ally — Raju Shetti-led Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS). Patil was unhappy with the decision, even though Shetti has decided to offer the ticket of his party to the clan of Vasantdada Patil family.
