Film production is a very stressful profession and Anand Pandit, producer of films including ‘Sarkar 3’, ‘Great Grand Masti’ and ‘Missing’, knows exactly how tough it can get. However, he does manage to handle the extreme stress and find happiness. In order to be happy, it is important to indulge in activities that will make you feel de-stressed and rejuvenated, he believes. Learn from the man himself a trick or two about keeping your work and personal life well-balanced…

Balance is important
I completely believe in work-life balance, because if it’s all work and no play then it’s definitely going to lead you to get exhausted fast and you will not be able to sustain the kind of effort you are putting in or the hard work. I think it’s extremely important to have that balance to be able to succeed in the long run.

Rejuvenate
Well, I spend a lot of time with my family. I exercise a lot and I also now travel a lot in order to create that balance. Spending time with your loved ones and friends always rejuvenates you. We, college friends, organise a trip every year (a la Zindagi Na Mile Dobara) and take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Keep stress at bay
To keep stress at bay, I do a lot of yoga and exercise which helps a lot. Listening to music is something that also helps me calm down. I also spend a lot of time with my family. Hearing my children and wife speak about how they spent their day, or watching a movie at the end of the day really helps me. The key to keep stress at bay is learning to handle the stress and not run away from it.

Handy tips
Firstly, time management is important. If you learn how to manage your time you will have less stress and you will be able to have an excellent work-life balance. Second, is exercise. When people say they don’t have time to exercise, it means they don’t manage their time well. Exercise is extremely important to keep your happy hormones in place. The third tip I would say is to understand that as important as your work is, the time that you spend doing things that make you happy are also a necessity.

Get a hobby
I believe everybody should have a hobby. Whether it is exercising, gardening or travelling, hobbies are very important. At the end of the day, if you are happy then you will be able to maintain a good balance between your personal and professional life. Hobbies should always be cultivated and it’s just a question of managing your time well.
