Incorporating the colour orange in your wardrobe becomes easy, courtesy some amazing fashion tips. SAPNA SARFARE brings these guidelines for your perusal.

Seasons change and each season has its own special colour which leaves a stamp on all things fashionable. This season, be prepared to be drowned in orange. A bold colour, the knowledge of donning it right will leave a stunning you. Beauty lies in correct details.

Designer Urvashi Joneja finds orange as a very energising and vibrant colour which has the power to lift up your mood. “From high street to couture club, this colour is hot favourite. As Monsoons are dull, orange is sure to brighten up your day. Also, people are quite experimental these days and don’t wish to stick to only blacks. Pick from the lighter shades of coral to bright tangerine and warm notes of deep rust that goes perfectly with Indian skin tones.”

Fellow designer Mayyur R Girotra states that the fashion world is buzzing with the colour. “It’s actually proving to be quite a versatile colour. From bright orange shades to peachy pastels, the colour is making its presence felt. The colour is versatile in its various shades, be it bright tangerines, sporty orange or in pretty shades of coral. The colour is popping out everywhere from dresses, shoes, bags, salwar kameez, saris to lehenga-choli.”

And since orange in any shade is not exactly a subtle customer, one needs to be careful while incorporating in one’s wardrobe. Mayyur feels that the colour is quite difficult to pull off, unless you have tips. “It can be a very flattering colour for most skin tones as it adds an instant natural glow to your skin. Be sure to know which shade is for you. Always wear orange in moderation with flattering colours. You can pair orange with denims or a denim jacket which can make orange really pop. You can also pair it with yellow, as tangerine and lemon is the perfect combo which can be worn everywhere. You can also try orange with white, as paired with orange, it will work like a magic which is sure to stand out. Don’t risk it with black as the only time that black and orange might work together is if you have an item of clothing with a pattern on it that tie black and orange together. Say, a black scarf with orange and green and blue flowers on it or black flats with orange and white detailing.”

Urvashi is of the opinion that brighter oranges must be paired with minimal accessories and make-up. She adds, “A lighter or more subtle shade of orange can be combined with a lot of complimenting colours like grey, pastel blue, purple, etc. You can play with colour blocking to add a fun element to your look. Style an orange dress with muted nude accessories and a fresh face make-up to let the colour be the star. Gold and nude toned accessories go really well with oranges. You can also pair orange tunics with nude make-up, neat hair, contrast pants/churidars and minimal accessories for your traditional parties!”

In Mayyur’s view, the perfect way of wearing Indian or a western look means donning Indian costumes which are in various shades of orange. “Whether it’s tangerine, saffron, marigold orange, citrus orange or burnt orange, this season is all about going vibrant. Indian wear attire looks impeccable when available in warm colour palettes like orange. Orange sari with ombre-dyed fuchsia pallu and a dash of sequins work adorning the border is an apt choice for an evening cocktail party. On the other hand, orange and red jacket style Anarkali salwar suit is one of the Indian costumes that will add a touch of glamour. Salwar kameez, sari and lehenga-choli are some Indian wear attire that will always remain a hot for ceremonial events, weddings and special occasions.”

Mayyur feels that even an addition of scarf or bag is enough to give you the feel apart from adding certain panache to the plain outfit. On this same note, Urvashi finds accessorising your outfit chic belts, stylish shoes/handbags, fashionable headbands, bracelets and necklaces adds a life to plain casual outfit. “Subtle, soft orange hues can look wonderful in case of formal or casual clothes as well. Orange bags have always been in vogue. Pair it up with light or pastel colour outfit. Orange footwear can again be paired up with beige or khaki-coloured outfit. Apart from this, light orange nail paint can also add an edge and pop to your neutral look.”

Your orange fashion quota is full with tips. But a certain motto must be kept while going bold with this colour. Mayyur advises, “Orange radiates warmth, energy and cheerfulness. It has the elation of red but none of its aggressiveness. An orange dress is one thing, but if you are wearing two pieces, do mix and match colours. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! If you do have a matching suit, break the pieces up and wear them with other clothing items you already own.” Go ahead and paint the town orange.
