Mumbai: Bombay HC grants bail to UAPA accused

The Bombay high court on Monday granted bail to accused Mohammed Raisuddin in a terror case registered by Kalachowkie police station in Mumbai in 2016.

A bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and V G Bisht granted bail to Raisuddin who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A co-accused, Iqbal Ahmed, was granted bail last August by the HC.

Raisuddin was arraigned as accused in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA) case later transferred to the NIA. Chargesheet was filed on October 7, 2016 and NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet on July 17, 2019.

Accordong to the prosecution, accused number 1 Naserbin Abubaker Yafai (Chaus) has been in contact with the members of Islamic State/Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL)/ Islamic State of Iraq and Syria/Daish, a terrorist organization, which has been banned by the Government of India in 2015.
