A special court dealing with cases concerning MPs and MLAs has pointed out while hearing a plea by an advocate associated with the Congress seeking a probe for corruption against BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and others over Sena rebel MLAs been taken to Guwahati, that he has not secured sanction against them so that they could be prosecuted under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
The court noted that the plea is not accompanied by a sanction order and that it does not seem that he has applied for sanction either. Special Judge RN Rokade then kept the matter for further hearing on the matter of sanction. The plea by advocate Madhu Holamagi had sought that the court uses its power to direct an FIR against Fadnavis and others under the PCA and any other laws. He had also sought that the court direct all Sena MLAs to be brought back from Guwahati and their statement be recorded if they had received any financial assistance from the BJP and if so, action be taken in accordance with the law.
