For once let us not take the real political developments too seriously but rather enjoy it in a musical way as the stage is set for some comeback performers, writes SUMEET NAIK.

The great Indian Royal Symphony, popularly known as RS, was losing its sheen until the Howard trained musician Swamy returned to the ‘Centre’ stage. As he walked into RS after a decade and a half sabbatical, Swamy knew what he had to do to get back not just the crowd but steal everyone’s attention too.

Undoubtedly, he chose the most sought after Billboard number in the recent past, “So Near, Yet So Far” from the infamous band AgustaWestland. He crooned it to perfection, every beat matching with the heart beats of the rich and famous. Once forgotten RS was bustling with loud roar of cheers and ran a full house every time Swamy performed.

While this was happening, some of the members within the RS were either too scared of meteoric rise in Swamy’s popularity or were simply jealous about all the attention he got from the front to back benchers (Left and Centre included). They just didn’t want the RS to go into the hands of just one performer who they felt was a ‘mad’ man. They wanted a desi experienced performer to come and stop this Hard Rock-Heavy Metal singer Swamy there and then.

Just when they were busy hatching the musical coup in RS, the tune of famous Jaya Prada-Rishi Kapoor starrer “Dafli Wale, Dafli Baza…Mere Ghungaroo Bulate Hai, Aaa. Mein Nachu, Tu Nacha”, from hit Bollywood movie Sargam fell into ears of Mulayam chacha. Without wasting even a single minute, he announced to the rest, that if anyone who could take upon Swamy is none other than our very own singer Amar. Everyone was unanimous in accepting that it was a sure shot remedy to counter the Howard returned. No one else could sing so flawlessly this particular Jaya Pradha number as Amar (he had mastered it to perfection in so many years).

Accordingly, the anti-Swamy faction announced that Amar would also perform in RS and that too on the same days when Swamy would perform. Once considered to be an ‘floating garbage’ by some of the so called self-proclaimed musical pundits in RS was now all set to get a Thakur’s welcome on the stage he is familiar with. We have heard that he has already begun practicing upon his rusted vocal cords by singing some of the popular Amitabh Bachchan starrer numbers. It will be one great entertaining session to watch and listen, when Swamy and Amar will perform on the same stage, same time in the form of Jugalbandi.

Irrespective who wins the battle for the day, RS could not have asked for better than this. As once again it is going to be the musical at its best in RS, with some breathtaking performances. Just when we are waiting for the curtains to rise, we hear someone humming the magical Lata Mageshkar number for Dev Anand –Sadhna starrer 1962 film Asli Naqli, “Tera Mera Pyaar Amar, Phir Kyon Mujhako Lagta Hai Dar. Mere Jivan Saathi Bata, Kyon Dil Dhadake Rah-Rah Kar.” Before even I could ask who is humming this golden era song, someone from the Royal Symphony screamed, “Hey! It’s Jaya.” Wonder, which Jaya he was referring to?
