Ujjain: Premchand Srijanpeeth and School of Studies in Indian History, Culture and Archeology of Vikram University jointly organised a seminar on the life of Durgadas Rathore on Thursday.
Renowned historian and director of Natnagar Research Institute, Dr Manohar Singh was the chief speaker at the seminar. Speaking on the life of Durgadas, he said Durgadas had been a nationalist from a very early age. He was an employee in the ministry of the king of Jodhpur and after the death of the ruler of Rathore dynasty, Jaswant Singh, he fought against Aurangzeb with the help of Mughal emperor Akbar and attained Swaraj.
Durgadas spent his last days in Ujjain until he died. In his memory, ‘Durgadas ki Chhatri’ was built by the administration which is conserved by the archeological department of Ujjain. Head of department of political science, Professor Nisha Vashishth presided over the event. HM Dhawan was the special guest. Welcome speech was delivered by Dr RK Ahirwar. Dr Vishwajeet Singh Parmar conducted the programme and Dr Raman Solanki proposed the vote of thanks.
