Mumbai : Boys’ top seed Udit Gogoi of Assam and girls’ top seed Naisha Srivastava of Karnataka set themselves up for a double crown when they won the doubles titles, in the 10th Ramesh Desai Memorial MSLTA-Yonex Sunrise-CCI Under-12 National Tennis Championship, at the Cricket Club of India on Saturday.
Gogoi teamed up with Akarsh Gaonkar of Karnataka to dominate the boys doubles championship round for a 6-2, 6-2 win over MP pair Deep Munim and Ayushman Arjeria.
“We were more aggressive and tried not to allow our opponents to get back into the match,” said the winning boys’ duo.
Naisha Srivastava combined with Shrichandrakala Tentu to prevail over Poorvi Bhatt and Renee Singh 6-4, 6-1 in a keenly contested girls doubles final that was marked by long rallies.
“We made fewer mistakes and kept the ball in,” said Naisha and Shrichandrakala.

Girls Doubles (Final): Naisha Srivastava/Shrichandrakala Tentu bt Poorvi Bhatt/Renee Singh 6-4, 6-1. Semi-finals: Naisha Srivastava/Shrichandrakala Tentu bt Sanjana Sirimalla/Thanushitha Galiveti 3-6, 7-6 (3), 10-5; Poorvi Bhatt/Renee Singh bt Vidhi Jani/Hetvee Chaudhari 6-3, 6-3.
