One can stay simple and yet contribute a lot to the world with grace and compassion, says Sumeet Naik.

Imagine, you have two glasses of water kept out in the open to quench thirst of any passerby. One made up of pure gold and the other of finest stainless steel. Both serve a common purpose, i.e. help drink water. But, which glass has the higher chances of getting stolen if left unattended? Undoubtedly, the one made up of Gold.

Similarly, an individual who leads a simple life has very little to lose as compared to the one who is constantly obsessed with materialistic things. Have you ever wondered why a kid playing on the street or at of the traffic signals appear to be happy and content with a broken toy he or she playing with.

On the other hand, a kid of similar age sitting in a car having the best of the toys at his disposal is at times cranky and wanting for more. Because for that child on the street, that broken toy is his priceless possession. The kid begins his or her day with that toy and goes to bed with it too in the night. Whereas the kid in the car knows that the parents are capable of buying new toys as and when demanded.

Unfortunately, our society gives more importance to monetary wealth as compared to the wealth of knowledge. Simple person with vast knowledge is far richer than a dumb individual with overflowing bank balance. I know for some these ideas may seem unrealistic or out of the box in current scenario, but give it a thought. Simplicity never killed anyone. Rather it gave birth to humanity, love and concern.
