Satna MP ‘inaugurates’ bridge; Chief electoral officer seeks report

BHOPAL : Chief electoral officer on Wednesday sought report from Satna collector on the alleged poll code violation by MP Ganesh Singh. Satna MP is reported to have inaugurated a bridge after the Model Code of Conduct was enforced in the state on October 6 in view of the upcoming Assembly elections. Congress state media president Sobha Oza and vice president Bhupendra Gupta in complaint to election commission had stated that Singh violated the election code by inaugurating a bridge in the constituency. Chief electoral officer V L Kantha Rao said that the complaint has been taken up and a report from district collector has been sought on the matter. CEO informed that general administration department has submitted a reply on complaint filed by RTI activist Ajay Singh on the appointment of information commissioners. The report has been forwarded to Election Commission of India for the further action, Rao said. The commission has also received a complaint regarding presence of MLA Rameshwar Sharma in a religious function. It has been alleged that the MLA had organised the ‘Bhagwat Katha’ in Bairagarh area and his posters were put up at the venue. Terming it as poll code violation, Congress leaders have demanded action against the MLA. The CEO informed that a report in this regard will be called from Bhopal collector. In another complaint Congress alleged hoardings of political leaders, including chief minister and minister of state Vishwas Sarang have been put up at BMC buildings in Narela constituency.
