New Delhi : The Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) Chairman Prasoon Joshi has pulled out of the annual Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) to address a session on Sunday in view of repeated threats from the Shri Rajput Karni Sena not to allow him in Jaipur for giving clearance to controversial film Padmaavat with U/A certificate.
He took the decision to skip on his own to prevent any disturbances to the festival despite the Rajasthan Government assuring him full protection.
The Shree Rajput Karni Sena welcomed his decision, saying that possibly the CBFC chief was “repenting for his mistake at how he had hurt the sentiments of Rajputs.” He is attempting to make amends, the Sena said.
Two contempt petitions against the Karni Sena are to come up before the Supreme Court’s Bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra on Monday for violating its order allowing screening of the Padmaavat movie. The petitioners have also made the governments of four BJP-ruled states for allowing violence against the movie.
