Ouch! Zomato delivery guy eats packed food in viral video; company to introduce tamper-proof tapes

Nowadays, food apps have made lives easier as they deliver food at your doorsteps. A video has gone viral on social media which will change your perception towards online food ordering.

A video has gone viral on social media where one can see the delivery man sitting on a bike wearing a Zomato T-shirt and with a Zomato delivery bag. He goes on to eat out of a food parcel meant for delivery. Then, he keeps the box back in the bag and takes out another one. After eating from the second box, he seals it and keeps it back inside the bag. He is then seen adjusting the sealing of a smaller packet, after which, he prepares to leave.

Initially, it was not confirmed if he was a Zomato employee. But when the video went viral, the company confirmed the man was working for them in Madurai (Tamil Nadu) and that he has been fired.

“We have found that the video was shot in Madurai, the person in the video is a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length – and while we understand that this was a human error in judgment, have taken him off the platform,” Zomato said in a statement, reported Times Now.

The company also said that it would review the incident and soon formulate better practices and strict guidelines for employees to follow. “In our commitment towards mitigating any possibility of tampering with food, Zomato will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, and other precautionary measures to ensure we safeguard against any chances of tampering of food,” Zomato said in a statement.
