North Korea to switch to new time zone to mark liberation from Japanese

London: North Korea will soon switch to a new time zone in order to mark the country’s liberation from the Japanese at the end of World War Two. According to the BBC, North Korea is in the same time zone as South Korea and Japan as of now. South Korea and Japan are nine hours ahead of GMT while Pyongyang Time will see the clocks put back by 30 minutes on 15 August. The entire Korean peninsula had been was 8.5 hours ahead of GMT until Japan colonised it in 1910.
