A case was registered against a branch manager of a bank in Mumbai for misplacing  jewelleries worth Rs. 12 lakh. The case was filed by 47-year-old Pramod Tawde against the manager of City Co-Operative Bank Ltd, Dahisar.

According to the complaint filed at MHB police station in Borivli, Tawde took a loan of Rs. 4 lakh from the bank in December 21, 2017 and mortgaged his wife’s jewelleries. On March 26 this year, when he went to pay the monthly installment of the loan in the bank, the bank manager Santosh Neurkar informed him that his wife’s ornaments were missing from the bank’s safe.

The manager also informed him that he gave the master key of the safe to bank staffs few days ago and does not know how his jewelleries went missing. He also informed Tawde that bank has initiated a formal inquiry into the matter and he does not need to pay interest on remaining loan amount.

But Tawde filed an official complaint with the police over the matter. “The bank has conducted an internal inquiry. Now that a case has been registered, we will fully cooperate with the police in the investigation,” the bank manager Neurkar told Mid-Day.
