This quirky situational comedy that was meant to tickle your funny bone ends up grating on your raw nerve ends. The subject matter is pretty much a trifling that doesn’t bear close inspection nor has any distinctive quality to it.

Baankey (an irritating Raajpal Yadav going full-on with character ticks) can’t find a match because of his obvious ‘duh’ness. So his loving well-off parents have no other option other than to recruit a proxy to stand-in for him. Unfortunately the proxy gets waylaid and the family are hard-pressed to find a suitable, pliable replacement. Viraat (Satyajeet Dubey) conveniently falls into place because his father , Sharmaji, is deep in debt and is unable to pay-off the loan advanced by Baankey’s father. So Viraat dons the role of Baankey in the baraat that winds it’s way to the pretty bride (Tia Bajpai)’s home. Viraat also engineers some second-thoughts in order to be debt free before acceding to the marriage ceremony. And needless to say he falls instantly in love with the bride along the way.

It’s quite a convoluted set-up with nothing meritorious about it other than Satyajeet Dubey in a decently delineated double role. The clutch of seasoned performers including Raajpal Yadav (who is insufferable to say the least), Sanjay Mishra, Rakesh Bedi and Vijay Raaz have nothing much to do other than repeat familiar character tropes in order to stay visible. Aijaz Khan the grand-nephew of revolutionary Urdu writer-Poet Ismat Chugtai doesn’t appear to have a clue about what comedy or fun entail. This one is just plain miserable mayhem!
