New Delhi : Absconding IPL founder Lalit Modi has now tried to embarrass Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and his brother-in-law, hinting that they took his hospitality.
My Q to rahulgandhi and robertvadra did you ever receive any hospitality from lalitmodi – and did you declare it to INCIndia,” he tweeted in a post Friday night.
He repeated: “Breaking news : Let”s wait for RahulGandhi and robertvadra to answer to answer my Q. Clarification to this awkward Q-Anykind and did u declare it to INCIndia.
Since he had hinted in one of the tweets to launch an NGO to fight corruption in India, one Raju Parulekar asked when. Modi replied: “In the works. Landing page of website later tonight.”
The website was, however, not up as yet. He was talking about the website in conjunction with the email forum he started at email@example.com , inviting people to tell him whatever they know about the corrupt politicos. He calls his exposures as LalitGate.
“I will keep blowing the whistle. I have nothing to be afraid of. I have given IPL & 47,000 crores to my country and hopefully many more to come,” he said in one of the tweets. Cong spokesman Ajay Maken dismisses Modi tweet, saying it doesn”t mean anything.
“Thousands of people including our film stars watch cricket matches. Like people enjoy cricket and likewise Rahul Gandhi is there also. The real issue is who are the people who had helped Lalit Modi to leave the country, helped him in getting the travel documents and helped him in his business deals.
“It is clear that the ”Chhota Modi” is trying to help the ”Big Modi” and his party and they are not talking on the real issues,” Makem said. He said main issue is of corruption.
He referred to the 38th Finance Committee report running into 78 pages wherein it had mentioned about the violations of FEMA and ED by the BCCI and at that time, as Sports Minister, he had taken some steps in this direction, which resulted in 19 notices of violations of FEMA being issued by the ED and also there were notices issued on 96 cases of service tax violations.
The UPA Government had also withdrawn the income tax exemption given to the BCCI. However, on the other hand, it was the BJP which had helped Lalit Modi to get asylum and helped him get travel documents. They should answer all these questions. The cricket match photo is just to divert the attention from the real issue, Maken added.
