Set in Baliya, this mirthless comedy is painstakingly rigorous in its efforts to tap into a humorous vein but the effort is by and large, joyless.
This film has a title that leads us into believing that it is a riotous sex comedy – the likes of the ‘Carry on…’ series, but that’s not the way it turns out.
Must say, the opening sequences of the film which has its lead character Kerry/sounds like Kairi (Satyajeet Dubey) trying to make out with a girl and falling flat is the only redeeming humorous moment in the film.
Kerry’s lack of success is in fact a recurring motif throughout the film. Every time Kerry tries to make out with a girl, he is defeated by contrived circumstance. To add insult to injury there are quite a few contenders, old and young, for the prize tease (Aradhana Jagota).
And all Kerry’s attempts to stave off the competition come to naught because his girl is playing off her suitors against each other( to the extent that they take up weapons to kill off the challenge). The end result is two shots and a gold necklace. And no prizes for guessing who wins the sweepstakes.
A sort of ‘Ishquiya’ with a much younger cast, this film tries to be a little too smart and ends up being heavy handed instead.
The rustic milieu, the botched up styling, the interestingly intonated lingo, the trendy music and the talented young performers add up to an interesting mix but the lack of levity in the screenplay and the lethargy in the helming puts paid to much of the enjoyment. There was quite a bit of potential in this idea but the lack of proper development makes it a pedantic mishit!
