Indore: Solar food festival, sustainable devt Jimmy memorial programmes from today

Indore: At least 50 people will prepare food in solar cookers at Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development and guests will enjoy solar cooked food together with Kavita Patidar, chairperson Indore jila panchayat, MLAs Usha Thakur and Jitu Patwari. The distinguished guests will also inaugurate the one week long “Jimmy McGilligan memorial programmes on sustainable development”, from Saturday on the 6th anniversary of passing away of James (Jimmy) McGilligan OBE, pioneer of making large solar kitchens in central India and a committed environmentalist who left UK and served for 25 years at the eco-friendly campus known for sustainable development, solar energy and organic farming — Barli Development Institute For Rural Women from 1988 to 2011. He also made the first wind-solar hybrid power station in Sanawadiya village.
