Indore: Private carrier, Jet Airways, has started direct flights from Indore to Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Two flights of the airliner left the city tarmac for Chandigarh and Hyderabad, on Wednesday. With this, the city gets two more direct flights for Hyderabad and Chandigarh and they were given water cannon salute.
With the rollout of new flights, the total number of flights operation from the city goes up to 88 per day. Airport Director Aryama Sanyal said that now 19 main cities were directly connected by flight service with the city. Air India, Jet Airways, Indigo and Air Asia are offering services from the city on these routes.
For the first time in the history, two flights were given water cannon salute at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. As soon the flight (9W-955 Hyderabad-Indore) landed here at the city airport with 102 passengers, it was given water cannon salute. Similarly, when flight (9W-958 Chandigarh-Indore) landed here with 60 passengers, it was also welcomed in the same manner.
Passengers will avail flights for these two cities on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. As per the schedule, the flight will arrive here from Hyderabad at 12.15 pm and depart for Chandigarh at 12.45. It will leave Chandigarh and reach at the city airport at 5.15 pm. At 6.00 pm, it will depart for Hyderabad. The Boeing-737 aircraft will take 2 hours from city to Chandigarh and 1.25 hours from Indore to Hyderabad.
