Indore: Four new direct flights for four cities will start from the city from September 2. Jodhpur and Vadodara are new destinations. In addition, there will be one flight each for Chennai and Kolkata. With this, total flights operating from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport will be 92. The average fare for all four flights would be from Rs 3000 to Rs 4500. Jet Airway will operate all the four flights, which will start at 3 pm.
The direct flights to Jodhpur and Vadodara will improve air connectivity with Rajasthan and Gujarat. Presently, city has fights for Jaipur and Ahmadabad. JK Jose, chairman, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) MP chapter, said flights will help in improving tourism and trade of Indore with both the cities. Flight for Kolkata and Chennai will also be launched.
Flights to Jodhpur and Chennai will operate daily while Vadodara flight will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The flight to Kolkata will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. For Jodhpur and Vadodara, the airliner has deployed 72-seater ATR aircraft and for Chennai and Kolkata 182-seater Boeing aircraft will be in service.
Airlines working for Cochin flight
Jose said though the city is connected with major cities of the country, there is not flight for Kerala, which is a major hub of trade and tourism. He said certain airlines are working to extend Hyderabad flight to Cochin.
