We must have seen the commercial of Incredible India which portrays Madhya Pradesh as the heart of India saying “Hindustan Ka Dil Dekho”. Well, a part of this heart rests at Bhedaghat which is another tourist destination we need to take down to discover and experience. It is a small place which has very little but yet very astounding places to offer as you head over to create a new page for your travel diary.

Bhedaghat is a town situated in Jabalpur District, which is in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located along the river Narmada and is 20 km from Jabalpur city.

Reaching Bhedaghat is very simple. Jabalpur is the nearest airport which is connected through flights from major cities. Madhya Pradesh has a well connected rail route in case you wish to travel by rail.

Bheadaghat has 3 primary places which attract tourists with their beauty.

Bhedaghat is famous for the glittering Marble Rocks that stand a hundred feet tall on the banks of Narmada making visually appealing scenery for visitors. The rocks are glistening white mounds with hues of black and dark green which shine through its seams. The holy river of Narmada provides a magical reflection of these rocks creating a majestic view. The same river gains turbulence a little ahead and roars into a mighty waterfall known as Dhuandhar. There are boating facilities available, but the best way to make this experience all the more thrilling is to sail in the moonlight. If you’re the adventure enthusiast who likes to take the high way, opt for the rope way crossing which adds a little roughness to this exploration.

The name Dhuandhar is derived from a break of Dhua which means smoke and Dhar meaning flow of water. It is an amazing cascade with a misty touch making these falls another popular attraction here. The plunge of these waters is so powerful that it can be heard from a distance.

The temple is one of the four major temples which contain carvings of  chausath yogini which means sixty four yogini or female yoga mystics. The temple was built in the 10th century under the empire of Kalachuri.

Visitors who come to Bhedaghat can also take a tour to Bargi Dam which is 50 km from here and 25 km from the city of Jabalpur. The Narmada Mahotsav is a festival celebrated here in full moonlight. A unique fact about this place is that scientists have found egg shells of dinosaurs at various ghats of this region. The tourist activities are carried out all around the year except for boat riding which remains closed during monsoon.

We all believe that a person is meant to be good if only he/she is blessed with a pure heart. Free Press Journal takes the initiative to keep the heart of India clean by asking its readers to take a step and doing the needful to maintain the beauty of this place.
