Berlin : An exhibition on the life and times of hockey legend Dhyan Chand will be inaugurated here on August 15.

The month-long exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Ambassador Gurjit Singh and his wife Neeru Singh at the embassy premises, will display the pictures of his on-field wizardry, several honours received by him and his personal artifacts, according to a release on Thursday.

His personal artifacts include his Olympic blazer and tie, his spectacles, several personal framed pictures, original recordings of training sessions and the Olympic final in Berlin in 1936.

Among the pictures displayed in the exhibition will be the photograph of a 30-foot statue his fans have built atop a hill in his hometown Jhansi, photos of his meetings with B.R. Ambdekar, C. Rajagopalachari and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur.

The exhibition will also display the commemorative postage stamp issued on December 4, 1980. Dhyanchand is widely considered as the greatest field hockey player of all-time. He is best remembered for his extraordinary goal-scoring feats and three successive Olympic gold medals (1928, 1932, and 1936).
