Mumbai : A woman created a big ruckus under the influence of alcohol inside the MIDC police station recently, police said. The incident occurred on September 17, when 25-year-old Sunita Yadav was taken to the police station following a complaint by a local restaurant, where too she had created a nuisance.
She was allowed to leave the police station after being fined Rs 1,200 and made to issue an apology under Section 110 and Section 112 of the Maharashtra Police Act which prohibits indecent behaviour at public places, but not before her antics at the police station were videographed by a cop on duty.
The video which was posted on Facebook, went viral on Monday and purportedly showed the woman consuming beer, flanked by police officers, even as she told cops on duty, “Oye Madamji, Sunita Yadav. Haryana ki hoon main. (Madam, my name is Sunita Yadav. I am from Haryana)”. Sunita Yadav is a resident of JB Nagar in Andheri East and she claims that she stays alone in the city and hails from Haryana.
According to a police officer, the woman had gone to a hotel in the jurisdiction of MIDC police, and after consuming alcohol, she started misbehaving and the police got a call from the hotel. She, along with a friend of hers, was then brought to the MIDC police station.
The woman allegedly continued drinking from an alcohol bottle even in the police station and created a ruckus and threatened the policemen. The police reportedly detained her at the police station till the next morning for her to sober up.
According to Rajaram Mandge, senior inspector of MIDC police station, the next morning the woman regained her senses and began apologising to the police. She reportedly told the police that she is an orphan and has no one staying with her in the city. According to the police, the woman first said she is a journalist and then said she is a model.
