New Delhi : With the declaration of 11 more candidates on Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalised its list of 153 candidates for the Bihar assembly elections. As the senior most party of the National Democratic Alliance, the party is contesting 160 out of the total 243 seats.
Union Minister J P Nadda and party general secretary Bhupendra Yadav released this list of 11 names and said that the remaining seven candidates would also be announced soon.
It thus emerges that the party had denied ticket to at least 16 of its sitting MLAs and also nominated the sons of at least two sitting MPs – Ashwini Choubey and former state party chief C P Thakur.
Choubey’s son Arjit Shashwat will contest from Bhagalpur, from where the Buxar MP had got elected several times, while C P Thakur’s son Vivek Thakur will fight from Brahmpur constituency.
